Ministry floats int’l bid for iron ore, steel project feasibility study

The Ministry of Mines (MoM) announced Thursday that it has invited companies for international competitive bidding to conduct consultancy on a bankable techno-economic feasibility study on iron and steel making plants.

A survey will further identify making plants production capacity through different processes of iron production with a total steel capacity of 2.5 million tons per year, according to the expression of interest (EOI) issued by MoM.

The objective of the survey is assessing the feasibility of establishing iron and steel making plants, at a suitable location in Ethiopia which shall be determined by the consultant. The work to be undertaken under this study will cover three major areas of technical feasibility, economic and financial evaluation, and environmental and social impact assessment.

The invitation for EOI will be online for 14 calendar days from the date of announcement.
