Girma Wake receives “Yebego Sew” Award
Girma Wake, Board Chairperson of the Ethiopian Airlines Group, has received “Yebego Sew” Award in Public Service Category on Sunday.
The 10th round of “Yebego Sew” Award held at Inter Luxury Hotel with the presence of President Sahlework Zewde and other officials.
Girma Wake served Ethiopian Airlines for 37 years in various positions including Chief executive officer and currently he is the board chairman of the national flag carrier. He has accumulated more than 50 years of experience in the aviation industry. He is 79 years old, a father of five and has 8 grandchildren. He has also served as board chairman of RwandAir and adviser to the Rwanda’s Transport minister on aviation matters, special adviser to the Togolese president. He also served Gulf Air and DHL in the Middle East.
Twenty-seven nominees were identified in art, education, public service, media and journalism, culture and heritages, humanitarian works, Ethiopian diaspora, business and entrepreneurship and science categories.
“Yebego Sew” Award was founded by Daniel Kibret, Social Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister. The Award recognizes people who are role models and made greater contributions to Ethiopia and its citizens in every year.
