Agreements signed for construction of three road projects in Addis Abeba

Addis Abeba City Administration signed three agreements to launch the construction of road projects worth 3 billion Birr on Monday with three contractors.

China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Yirgalem Construction PLC, and Brgi Construction PLC signed the agreements with Moges Tibebu, Head of Addis Abeba City Roads Authority.

The first road, which is going to be constructed, stretched from Africa Avenue-Edna Mall Square-Haya Hulet Mazoria to British Embassy. This road will be city’s first Intelligent Transport System (ITS), which will help to modernize the traffic flow and its management, according to a statement from Mayor Office of Addis Abeba.

World Bank will fund constructed of the first project, according to Moges. CCCEC is in charge of this project.

The second road is from Ayer Tena-Weletie Shop-Alemgena Asphalt road and last but not least is Akaki-Bridge Construction projection.  Yirgalem Construction PLC and Brgi Construction PLC are responsible for these projects, respectively.

Moges said that the fund for Akaki-Bridge Construction and Ayer Tena-Weletie Shop-Alemgena Asphalt road will fully be covered by City’s administration.

The three projects will include CCTV Camera’s and other roadside facilities, which will be constructed, to support the highway system, Moges said.
