Unilever keen to invest Ethiopia’s food processing sector

Unilever Global announced that it has a plan to invest in Ethiopia’s food processing sector.

Douglas Brew, Head of External Affairs, Communications and Sustainability for Africa at Unilever discussed regarding food processing investment plan with Teferi Melese, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the United Kindom (UK) on Thursday.

Ambassador Teferi told Mr. Brew that the government will provide incentives to companies that will invest in agro-industry, which identified as a priority sector.

The company previously invested in manufacturing of Soaps, Detergent Powders and Bouillons in Ethiopia. And there’s also a plan to expand businesses across the country, according to Mr. Brew.

Mr. Brew said that Unilever will submit its investment plans to Ethiopian authorities soon.

Unilever is considering purchasing raw materials of production from Ethiopian farmers, the Director said.

Unilever has 148,000 staff across the world, and over 400 brand names in 190 countries. The Global Company is based in London.
