Ministry revokes 972 licenses

Takele Uma (Eng.), Minister of Mines announced Wednesday that the Ministry has revoked 972 licenses.

The revoked licenses include companies in production and export of mines.

“These companies did not comply with the terms of their exploration and production licenses despite the repeated warnings they have been given to them,” Takele said.

“Close to 850 mines exporting companies licenses were revoked because they engaged in contraband trade,” Takele said.

Ethiopia has earned $513.9 million gold mining and production sector during the past 11 months.
