Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew

The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mesfin Tasew, elected member of the board of directors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Mesfin was elected at the IATA Annual General Meeting which kicked off today in Doha Qatar. Hosted by Qatar Airways, the 78th IATA Annual General Meeting and World Transport Summit is being held for two days in Doha, Qatar.  

Mesfin was appointed Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines last March following the early retirement of Tewolde Gebremariam, former CEO of Ethiopian Airlines. Mesfin served Ethiopian Airlines for 37 years and in 2021 he was appointed CEO of ASKY Airlines, the pan African airline based in Lome, Togo. Ethiopian Airlines has a 25 percent stake in ASKY Airlines. Ethiopian manages and provides technical service to the west African airline.  

From 57 founding members in 1945, IATA now represents some 290 airlines in 120 countries. Carrying 83% of the world’s air traffic, IATA members include the world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines.
