Shints ETP Garment PLC inaugurates staffs dormitory in Bole Lemi

Shints ETP Garment PLC, an industrial firm from South Korea, located inside the Bole Lemi Industrial Park, has inaugurated its staff’s dormitory and additional floors in the existing sheds constructed inside the park on Friday.

Construction of the dormitories and additional floors for sheds amounted $15 million, Harry Choi, General Manager of Shints ETP garment PLC, told Origins Business.

The completed construction can accommodate 3300 people. Totally, there are five staff dormitories.

Shints ETP has 5100 employees, of which 2700 are dormitory employees, 1400 walk to work, and 1000 commute by bus.

Sandokan Debebe, CEO of the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) praised Shints ETP Garment PLC for its investment in Ethiopia. He also recalled that the company has become an exemplary industry in Bole Lemi Industrial Park.

The construction of the dormitory will cut employees commute time to the factory, according to Minho Cha, Chairman of Shints.

“The employees were exhausted from traffic jams in Addis Abeba when commuting to work by bus and it took 3 to 4 hours a day,” Mr. Cha said.

Lelisse Neme, Ethiopian Investment Commissioner for her part said that the government will continue supporting shints ETP Garment PLC.
