Ethio Telecom, INSA, Derash join hands to launch monthly water service bill payment via telebirr
Ethio telecom and Information Network Security Administration (INSA) launched monthly water service bill payment via telebirr through Derash integrated payment platform for water and sewerage services providing institutions.
Based on the agreement signed on Wedensday, telebirr subscribers residing in Arba Minch, Bahir Dar, Dessie, Finote Selam, Harari, Injibara and Kombolcha towns can settle their water and sewerage service payments via telebirr with the enabled system integration by Derash.
The new scheme will also enhance water and sewerage service providing institutions to collect their customers’ monthly bill efficiently, Ethio Telecom said.
Furthermore, this payment system is expected to play crucial roles in encouraging the digital payment experiences of our society, thereby fostering the number of cashless society, realizing digital Ethiopia along with tracing and improving the flow of business information.
Specifically, the payment system has more to play for the water service providing institutions such as enhancing to collect the service bill instantly with lower cost of transaction and on time, improving customer relationship management, generating real time report as well as segmenting and identifying customers easily according to their level of service utilization.
Similarly, it will also enable customers to settle their bills remotely and anywhere at their conveniences and will propel the culture of cashless payments.
Telebirr payment system has played significant roles in easing our societies’ ways of lives in particular and the digital financial inclusions in general. The service has got by far the widest recognition country wide and has now over 19 million subscribers more than 82 master agents, over 67 thousand agents and more than 17 thousand merchants within a short span of time as well as telebirr has integrated with 12 banks to transfer money from bank to telebirr and with 10 banks to transfer money from telebirr to bank.
Due to its being well known and preferable for e-money payments, over 16.2 billion-birr transactions has been made so far.
Similarly, Ethio Telecom will implement water bill payment via telebirr through Derash integrated payment platform in regions water and sewerage services providing institutions.
