This year’s edition of the Easter Exhibition and Bazaar, which has officially been opened on Saturday, April 2, 2022, is expected to attract more than 500 thousand visitors, the organizer announced.

Unlike the other times, the exhibition and bazaar has been organized by the Exhibition Center and Market Development Enterprise (ECMDE).

The bazaar and exhibition is taking place at ECMDE’s compound, Meskel Square.

Tilahun Tadesse, CEO of ECMDE attributed soaring price of exhibition center’s place rent levied by other bidders and high entrance fees to the decision of taking the role of organizing the event.

The show will also stimulate the hotel and tourism, entertainment as well as transport sectors, according to Mesenbet Shenkutie, President of Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations.

“Our center has made a 20% discount on participants’ payment fees and 50% for visitors and customers,” said Tilahun on his address Saturday, adding, “The entrance fees not more than 30 to 50 Birr, which would have a contribution to reduce a soaring inflation”.

There are more than 600 thousand businesses in Addis Abeba and that figure indicates that the number of vendors went up by a double rate in 7 years, according to a data from City’s Trade Bureau.

“The increase in businesses stems from the growing purchasing power of the people,” said Mesenbet.

The exhibition that opened Saturday will be closed on April 23, 2022.
