PM Abiy inaugurates CBE’s headquarters
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has officially inaugurated the headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) on Sunday. The new headquarters is a milestone project of CBE, which took more than five years and 11 months to be finalized, according to the Bank.
Constructed at a cost of $303.5 million, the HQ’s inauguration was also attended by Teklewold Atnafu, former Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia and Board Chairperson of the CBE, and Abie Sano, President of the Bank, and Girma Biru, macroeconomic advisor to the Prime Minister, among others.
The new headquarters has a height of 209.1 meters, the tallest building in Ethiopia, and is located in a nearby area dubbed “Financial District” of the country.
China State Construction Engineering was the main contractor of the project, with the involvement of many sub-contractors during its construction.
