EEP loses 1.6 bln Birr due to impacts of war

The Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) said that it has lost 1.6 billion Birr  due to the damaged properties and reconstructing costs of damaged infrastructures following the devastating war in the north and northeast parts of the country.

Electric sub-stations, conductors, towers, insulators, and other EEP properties and infrastructures were damaged by the war, said Moges Mekonnen, EEP Communication Director said in a press on Wednesday.

Amhara and Afar region are the main victims of electric infrastructural damages as the war intensifies so far, especially in the latter.

Electric power services has not been so far restored in Humera, Lalibela Sekota and Wolkayit, said Moges.
