Addis Chamber, Commission embolden diaspora to invest in Ethiopia

Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association (AACCSA) and City’s Investment Commission encouraged members of Ethiopian and Ethiopian descent diaspora to invest in priority areas in the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors.

AACCSA and the Commission have presented the investment incentives in the sectors on Tuesday while they discussed opportunities in Ethiopia.

Tesfaye Chaka, Promotion Director of Addis Abeba Investment Commission explained incentives such as a tax holiday and feasible investment opportunities to the diaspora community.

Market feasibility, foreign currency generation and job creation are the basic requirements of selecting the priority sectors.

“We’re working to fix the bureaucratic problems that would be obstacles for the diaspora to conduct businesses,” Tesfaye said adding, “One window service launched in our commission is a best example for that.”

He also announced that an online system to accelerate the investment process based on the needs of the diaspora to invest in.
