The Ethiopian and Addis Abeba Investment Commissions announced that an investment forum that is expected to attract Ethiopian and Ethiopian descent diaspora will be held next week in Addis Abeba.
The forum is slated for January 12 to 16, 2022 at Skylight Hotel. In addition to the consultation about investment opportunities and incentives to the diaspora, Bole Lemi and Kilinto ICT Industrial Parks will be visited by the diaspora community, according to the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC).
Priority areas of investments that are identified for the diaspora are manufacturing, agriculture, industrial parks development specializing in ICT, health and logistics sectors, said Lelise Neme, Ethiopian Investment Commissioner.
Girma Seifu, Addis Abeba’s Investment Commissioner for his part said, “Our main target is enabling the diaspora to look at the untapped investment potentials of Ethiopia.”
He added: “We are ready to work in minimizing the bureaucratic bottlenecks for the diaspora”.
Both EIC and Addis Abeba Investment Commission have formed a diaspora desk to handle investment issues of the diaspora in a unique way.
Meanwhile, Lelise said that the EIC has been making consultations with the diaspora to rehabilitate the destructed investments in Amhara and Afar regions due to the devastating war.
