Safaricom ranked “Most Valuable Firm” in East Africa by market cap

According to a report— a compilation of the most valuable brands by market capitalization – by analysts at AfricanFinancials Group, Safaricom is the most valuable brand in East Africa and Mauritius, with a market capitalization of $15.4 billion.

Safaricom’s shares have soared following its announcement of securing a telecommunications license to operate in Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous country, in May 2021.

The network operator was followed by Mauritius Commercial Bank ($1.59 billion), Equity Bank ($1.53 billion), Tanzania Breweries ($1.38 billion ), East African Breweries Ltd ($1.32 billion), KCB Bank ($1.26 billion), Co-operative Bank ($750 million), and Tanzanian Vodacom ($744 million), among others, according to Africa Business Insider.
