The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority said that compared to the same period last fiscal year, the global price of Arabica C coffee has increased by 86 percent.

It is now being sold at £206.5 – 210, up from £110.7 a year ago.

Tatek Girma, Director of the Market Development and Promotion Directorate of the Authority said that the increase in price is mainly attributed to the decrease in Brazil’s supply, which supplied more than 35% of the world’s Arabian C coffee.

“The global price surge will boost the price set by coffee exports, which have a direct impact in improving the lives in the value chain process through increasing their profits,” he said.
