TotalEnergies launches this year Startupper challenge

TotalEnergies has announced that it has launched the third edition of the Startupper of the year challenge on Tuesday.

For this edition, the Startupper of the Year Challenge by TotalEnergies is poised to support and reward young local entrepreneurs between ages of 18 and 35, who either have a business creation project or a startup that’s under three years old, regardless of the sector of activity.

A local jury made up of experts, people from the world of startups, company managers from local sustainable development players and managers from TotalEnergies Marketing Ethiopia will select three winners in categories of:

  • The “best business creation project”;
  • The “best startup under 3 years old” and;
  • The “best female entrepreneur”.

Each winner will be nominated “Startup of the Year by Total Energies” and will receive financial support, coaching and a media campaign to give project visibility, according to TotalEnergies.

Marta Kassahun, Marketing and Communication Head at TotalEnergies said: “Projects will be evaluated based on the criteria’s of competitors’ response to the challenges of sustainable development and their innovative character.”

The third criterion is their feasibility and development potential, said Marta.

The first two editions of TotalEnergies Startupper challenges were successful, said the Company. For this round, the challenge will be held in 32 African nations. Following the nomination of the three winners per country, an international jury will meet to select the three “Grand Winners” for the continent.

Registration will be opened on November 4, 2021.
