Exporting avocado launched from clusters in Amhara region

The Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA)has announced that clusters in Amhara region has begun exporting avocados cultivated on 200 hectares of land. 

447 farmers in North Mecha Woreda of West Gojjam Zone are participating in the export process; out of which 156 farmers collected, prepared, weighed, packed and exported avocadoes weighing more 1600 quintals for the international market. 

Likewise, preparation has commenced to export these types of avocados in the Oromia region as of last week.

Ethiopia earned $5 million from the export of the fruit in 2020/2021 fiscal year. Plan has already been set to garner $10 million 2021/2021 budget year.
